Emmanuel A. Ojo-Amaize, Ph.D.

With over thirty years experience discovering and developing pharmaceuticals and novel diagnostic products, Dr. Ojo-Amaize is the author of over 50 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. Prior to founding IMI, he served as Director, Cellular Immunology Research at Specialty Laboratories, Inc., a world leader in clinical laboratory testing on normal and aberrant immune responses to diseases.
While at Specialty, he successfully developed and patented innovative clinical technologies diagnosing abnormal immune responses to silicone in women with silicone breast implants.
Additionally, he has held positions at ICN Pharmaceuticals, Inc., directing the development of new small molecular weight synthetic nucleosides for immunomodulatory applications, and as an NIH Senior Clinical Immunology fellow at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he developed novel technologies to assess the role of antibodies in HIV infection. He served as a volunteer faculty member in the USC School of Medicine.
Dr. Ojo-Amaize received his B.A. degree in Biology from Prescott College, a Ph.D. in Cellular Immunology from Uppsala University Biomedical Center in Sweden and a Postdoctoral training in Molecular Immunology from the NYU School of Medicine.
In his illustrious career, he has been the recipient of several prestigious Fellowship Awards from the Rockefeller Foundation, World Health Organization, the National Cancer Institute, and the Swedish Agency for Research and Co-operation with Developing Countries (SAREC).
He has been a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, New York Academy of Sciences, the Scandinavian Society for Immunology, and the Association of Medical Laboratory Immunologists, and is certified as a Laboratory Director in Cellular & Diagnostic Immunology by the New York State Department of Health.
